No, to be fair, you can't see much of the filter element really and I didn't cut the old one open to have a look either. The original oil was still fairly clean too.

Ok - thanks. I have changed the 'lifetime' fluid a couple of times now but never gone as far dropping the cover to access filter which is not listed as a service item. Presume there is one in there on my model but will check further.
The first change was 53k and oil was a little murky but nothing serious. On the 2nd change @ 68k the oil appeared perfect but I will continue to change every few years anyway.

I noticed that "lifetime" fluid, in the BMW's acceptance it's about 150k km or 100k miles, because is what they expected as lifetime for a regular model! The Zed, being a collectible will jump over the rules and needs replacement of the "lifetime" fluids.
I had a friendly argue with a friend, working in a BMW workshop and I found these values written, when you look better in the inspection's schedule.
It's applying to the differential too. And to the Lambda sensor (Oxygen sensor).
Agree Zeti - I changed diff and PAS 2 years ago and will do them again soon because of car's age. They are quick jobs and the fluids are not expensive. Not done Lambda yet on the list for the spring.
Hi coops, just looked on the VIN decoder for my car and it merely lists Transmission - Automatic. Also looked on Carweb today at work but nothing shown on there either. Sorry no help mate. Happy New Year to you and yours.

Cooper - the info I sent you from TIS indicates you have ZF A4S 310R / 270R fitted in your car.

Guys, I just got under the car to look at the trans. There is a green sticker that says to use oil # 83220024359 and there is a barcode sticker with GM ######## 909. there is a single very large oil pan for it and it is rectangular with smooth rounded edges. There is no cut off corner or anything unusual about the shape. I cannot find the model stamped on the trans anywhere, just the GM sticker.
Any ideas what model I have?
