Day 9, 155 miles Tongue to Durnoch, taking in the northernmost point on the mainland, NC500

We stayed at Dornoch Castle last night
Built 1500 for the bishops of Caithness
Though it has an 800 year old cathedral it's not a city as its so small Madonna and Guy Richie's son Rocco was christened here apparently
Walk to the beach before we set off
Bridge over the Dornoch firth A9
Towards Dingwall
Came of the A9 for petrol, via little road to Invergordon hometown of the Stolzman brothers from world's strongest man
Cromarty Firth looks to be a hive of activity
Spotted near Dingwall gave him a wave
And over to Inverness Been over that bridge a few times on Stevo's runs!
Tempted to go round again
Thats the end of the NC500 for us, have done Inverness to Aultguish Inn before
A96 to Nairn then a939 to Grantiwn on Spey, not a car on the a939, lovely flowing road
Spotted gave him a wave! need to zoom in to see him tho
Found AA box 746!

The castle and village (?) look very interesting and I’m assuming there’s history associated with the former? And the beach…sigh…
You’re in the best place to avoid this blisteringly hot weather. It’s been a very uncomfortable 32 degrees here today.

First logging wagon we've been behind on the way to Lecht
Rod said he had to clench his arse every 2 minutes on this road as the boot was so full.
Heatwave in the uk but still snow left in the Cairngorms

Met a run on the way to Braemar, bit too close!

Doune castles was used as a location for filming Monty Pythons Holy Grail film in 1975, stand in for nearly every castle in the film though not the "its very nice" one as that was by a loch
M9 past Stirling Castle
The Kelpies near Falkirk, home of the Falkirk wheel, world's only rotating boatlift, Dad would have loved it
Off the motorway at Polmont, direction Lanark. A721 towards Peebles, lovely farm shop for a coffee near Netherund

Storm had his 104k birthday this trip and didn't put a foot wrong, 1 470 miles! Approx 200 litres of fuel, most of it E5, had to put a bit of air in one tyre once
