Something you could try that I had to do with that 2.8i I test drove yesterday : start from the default key-in position, and veeeerrrrrrry ssssssllllloooooowlllllyyyyy turn the key forward. For whatever reason that was something I had to do to get it to start, and it's something you could try. IDK
ok big shout out to this post.
I had only turned the key for a fraction of a second last night because I had all the intake parts off (throttle body, idle valve, disa), and when I heard the car start to crank for like a tenth of a second I immediately turned it back to the off position so the engine didnt suck in anything that wasnt supposed to be inside of it.
When I put everything back together this afternoon it failed to start or even crank again. Then I remembered this comment about turning the key slowly, and it 100% worked!
I was so disappointed and confused when it failed to start after putting all those parts back on in the 85 degree heat (I was sweating like it was 100 degrees), and I was so relieved when that worked!
Also if anyone knows, is that a sign of a bad EWS ring antenna and if I get a new one does it need to be programmed in or is it just plug and play? Im assuming plug and play but Id hate to find out otherwise the hard way.
